Oui c'est le fun le nordschleif, mais ça peut couter pas mal plus que 15 Euro. I'm driving the Nürburgring

— you’ll be sharing 12.947 miles of track and 73 bends with motorcycles, motor homes, even buses. Accidents are common. Given the number of blind corners and summits, one crash can lead to another.
You can spot the potential accident scenes by the size of the crowds — if you see an expectant mob, brake hard. German traffic laws apply: overtaking is on the left only and if you’re rear-ended when you’re on the left of the track the accident is your fault.
If you crash and survive, the bill can be horrendous: £10,000 for damage to fixtures and fittings and £1,350 an hour if you close the track. Then there’s your air ambulance and hospital stay — check your travel insurance for exclusion clauses — not to mention car recovery. AA five-star breakdown cover specifically excludes the Nürburgring.
Braving the Ring is for responsible grown-ups who accept the consequences of their actions, a precious quality in a world where risk is becoming illegal. Ring veterans warn against chasing lap times. Go there for the ultimate driving experience, but make sure you know your limits and you’ll live to drive another day.
