Last month I was looking for a new set of pipes to put on my newly bought RC51. As usual, I shopped all over the place: eBay, kijiji, lespac, M4E, etc. I found a nice set of pipes on eBay: FMF DUAL TITANIUM POWERCORE-S SLIP-ON MUFFLERS.
I said "...what?!...FMF for an RC51???!!". The price and description made the pipes very appealing, but I wanted to learn more about the pipes. I went to a widely known RC51 owners website... nothing, YouTube... nothing, Google... nothing, M4E... nothing. There was nothing on the net about these pipes on an RC51... not even a picture.
Anyways to make a story short, I bought the pipes, put them on the RC51 and to my surprise... they look and sound amazing! They are defenetly the best bang for my buck. So here are some pictures that hopefully might help some people make up their mind about getting some FMF DUAL TITANIUM POWERCORE-S SLIP-ON MUFFLERS for their RC-51 a.k.a. RVT.
However not all is nice and beautiful. I learned that:
- FMF installation instructions are not that great as they are in plain text and show no images or make explicit references to tools or products.
- The mid-pipe holding bracket on the FMF pipes must be installed on the outside of the rear set, and not on the inside like the original pipes do. This is particularly true for the left pipe. Failure to do so will result in some rubbing between the left pipe and the swing arm. FMF's installation intructions fail to provide this important piece of information.
I might... put some video or sound file online depicting the sound of the pipes sometime soon.
