Now or never for Biaggi?

If Max Biaggi were asked to pick any circuit on the 2005 MotoGP World Championship calendar at which he was most likely to win, Brno would almost certainly be his choice.

The Roman has a tremendous record at the 5.403km circuit that lies just outside the Czech Republic's second city: He has taken three wins in the premier-class and won every race in the four-years he dominated the 250cc class.

Perhaps as importantly, Valentino Rossi doesn't like the layout - and those factors combined could mean it is a case of 'now or never' for Biaggi to break his 2005 win drought.

"This is my favourite circuit of all," confirmed Max. "I like it because it's fast and I'm particularly fond of the four chicanes. The speed is really high there and you need a lot of courage and commitment to face the changes of direction.

"In addition it's a place that fits me; I've taken victory several times there and the local people have given my name to a bridge not far away from the circuit," he added. "I've won there with all the bikes I've raced with except for the current one and this I hope to change. I come back form my holidays refreshed and ready for the second part of the season."

But one aspect not in Biaggi's favour this weekend is that the latest developments for the RCV will not be used during the GP, although they will be tested immediately afterwards. The #3 will surely have his fingers crossed that Honda's summer progress finally includes a cure for the chatter problems that have blighted his charge all season long.

"I know after the race at Brno we test and we hope to find some positive results as the last six races after Brno will come very fast together and I am confident we can get some good results for the team and for all my fans, who have been so supportive," said the Repsol Honda rider.

Biaggi, who has taken just two podiums so far this year, is currently fifth in the world championship standings, but a mere 3-points from second placed Marco Melandri.

First practice for the Czech Republic Grand Prix takes place on Friday morning.
