MotoGP: Sete's comments after Turkish GP...

The mental pressure of being Valentino Rossi's only real rival during the 2003 and 2004 seasons seemed to once again take its toll on Sete Gibernau in Sunday's Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul.

After taking his fourth pole position of a winless 2005 season, Gibernau was demoted to second in the early running - behind Movistar Honda team-mate Marco Melandri - but retook the lead from the young Italian on lap 4 of 22.

However, three laps later Gibernau's RCV bobbed on the entry to a left hander, forcing the Spaniard to run wide and through the gravel before rejoining in sixth. Sete would quickly move up to fourth, but was unable to threaten the leading duo of Melandri, Rossi and Nicky Hayden.

"This is not my year and it's a shame because the team did a great job this weekend and we had a great chance to take our first win," sighed Gibernau. "We have wasted another chance but race after race things have not gone my way. I went off after a mistake; I went into a corner to quickly and tried to brake but couldn't. It cost us dear again."

Despite the disappointment of watching another win slip away, Gibernau did at least move up one position in the riders' championship - to sixth - but is now 13-points behind Max Biaggi with only one round to go.

Je suis rendu un fan de Sete car Rossi est rendu trop fort. C'est une machine ce mec, il nous faut un rival qui rends MotoGP un peu plus interesant qu'une course a la deuxieme et troisieme place!!!!

C'est pour ca que je prends pour Melandri. Je pense pas que les "vieux" (Giberneau, Biaggi, Capirossi, Checa) vont être capable de détroner Rossi, c'est plus un des jeunos (Melandri, Hayden, peut-être Pedrosa ou Stoner dans 2 ou 3 ans si Rossi est encore là) qui risque de faire la job.

I don't think Rossi will be there in 2007 !!! IMO

id say it all depends on the competition, if he gets a good challange in 2006, you can bet he'll be back.
