Schumacher rides Desmo
F1 Ferrari racing legend Michael Schumacher is doing a Rossi - he's riding a MotoGP bike at 11am today (Oct 24).
Schumacher will get a blast on Loris Capirossi's Ducati Desmosedici MotoGP around Mugello, Italy. He's had his own set of Alpinestars leathers made specially for the occasion.
The top secret test is booked privately at Schumacher's request. It's meant to be behind closed doors but the Italian media is swarming all over Mugello after leading Italian paper Gazetta Della Sport splashed the story on its front cover this morning (Oct 24). The test is still going ahead.

Rossi has been testing Ferrari F1 cars. While Rossi's tests are thought to point him towards a future on four wheels, no one is expecting Schumacher to swop to two!

Schuey can't match Rossi
It doesn’t look Valentino Rossi has much cause to worry about Michael Schumacher snaffling his MotoGP ride any time soon: the German was 23s off Rossi’s Mugello pole position time after his first day riding the Ducati MotoGP bike.
Schumacher managed a best of 2m13s compared to Rossi's 1.49s.
The German F1 legend had a private test on the bike on Monday (October 24). See link right.
The seven-time F1 world champion managed around two dozen laps on the bike – the fastest ever in GP history – steadily dropping his lap times throughout the day. He is due to ride it again tomorrow (Oct 25).
Rossi was around three seconds off Schumacher’s best lap at the Fiorano F1 test track when he most recently tested Schumi’s car.
In fairness, while Rossi has raced cars before and done much in ther way of go-karting, Schumacher’s biking experience is far more limited: he rides Ducati Monsters and Harleys, and as we all know the penalties for lobbing a bike in a fit of over-enthusiasm is far higher than chucking a car in the gravel.

"It was great fun," said Schumacher, who is thought to have only ridden road bikes before. "I wanted to experience something totally different and it was very interesting. The guys at Ducati helped me a lot and (former 500cc GP winner) Randy Mamola explained everything to me. It has been a great experience and I want to thank everyone that made it possible."
