Par défaut Biaggi.....it's Done.

From Cyclenews.com....

Italian Max Biaggi has signed a contract that will see him ride alongside Troy Corser and Yukio Kagayama on the Alstare Corona Suzuki team in the World Superbike Championship, according to reports from Eurosport.

If the story pans out, Biaggi will join fellow MotoGP riders Troy Bayliss, Alex Barros anbd Ruben Xausin making the switch to the Superbike series.

"As all of you already know I've have been put in this terrible situation by Honda and therefore I won't participate at the 2006 MotoGP Championship," Biaggi said on his official website. "As for Superbikes, I have always appreciated this category, I also have few friends in there and they have all my respect. So this opportunity is a very good one." Although Biaggi is not on the provisional World Superbike entry list, Eurosport is reporting that he will wear the number 30 on his Corona entry this season.

Biaggi is expected to take part in a four-day test at Phillip Island in Australia beginning on Tuesday, January 17. Following that, the team will test at the Losail circuit in Qatar for two days with the series set to begin there on February 25.

The BBC is reporting this morning that famed Italian GP champion Max Biaggi signed a contract with Alstare Suzuki on Wednesday of this week, that he will race with the number thirty (Norick 'Yamaha Ride for Life' Abe uses Max's usual #3 in WSBK) and, most tantalizing, Biaggi will test with Corser, Kagayama and Mladin at Phillip Island.

There has been no official word from Suzuki regarding this development.

Biaggi set for fourth Alstare Corona Suzuki.

Max Biaggi's conversion to superbike rider appears set to be completed with a move to the champion Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra team that took Troy Coser to the 2005 WSBK title.

While news of the Italian's code switch comes as no surprise, his destination for the coming season is moreso, especially given that he ws expected to be helped in his move by long-time personal backer Japan Tobacco. The Suzuki team, however, rides in direct competition with the Ten Kate squad that enjoys support from JTI brand Winston.

The first hint that Biaggi could link up with Corser this year came when the FIM issued an initial draft of the 2006 entry list, complete with a fourth vacancy at Francois Batta's squad, alongside those at Klaffi Honda and Kawasaki Corse.

Now, Italian sports newspaper Gazzetta de la Sport claims that a deal has been struck between Batta and Biaggi, which will see the 'Roman Emperor' turning his first superbike wheel at the impending Australian test session next week.

This would mean that Alstare Corona would be running a total of four bikes:

- Troy Corser (defending world champ);
- Yukio Kagayama (Japanese kamikaze who won a race at the opening Qatar round and took second at both Philip Island races in 05);
- Fabien Foret (who moves up from World Supersport after Alstare pulled out of that series); and
- Max Biaggi (who managed to collide twice with Nicky Hayden with only TWO bikes in the same paddock... What will he do now with a total of FOUR? )

Je crois que Suzuki va changer son slogan pour "You see the worst people on Suzukis" (avec Mladin et Yates qui sont pas mal trou du cul eux aussi)

Nonon, tu veux dire que leur slogan "I am a champion; I choose Suzuki" va devenir: "I am an asshole; I choose Suzuki"...
