"Rossi looked at ease on the podium, accepting that, on the day, he had been beaten by a clean ride from a young new rival, but also knowing that the Ducati’s speed along the straight had been the key. His Yamaha M1 was effective in the technical parts of the track where Rossi was clearly the fastest rider in Qatar, but, at the end of the day, the Yamaha was 17th out of the 20 bikes in top speed and was outgunned down the straight not just by Stoner’s Ducati but also by Pedrosa’s trim and powerful Honda. Just how slow was the M1? Well, it would have been the 17th fastest out of the 23 bikes entered in the World Superbike round held at the same Losail track on March 24th. In fact, both Yamaha YZF-R1s, ridden in SBK by Troy Corser and Noriyuki Haga, recorded identical speeds of 190.8 in race trim, compared to the best speed of 188.25 by Rossi on the M1 in the race." "In the first segment, that included the fastest part of the straight and the shorter back straight, Stoner held a 1.33-second advantage when segment times from all 22 laps for Rossi and Stoner were added up. In the second section, more technical and slower, Rossi clawed back an accumulated 3.922 second-advantage in 22 laps. In the third segment, a mixture of slow and fast corners, the two were virtually equal (with a .036 second edge for Stoner), but the final fast section, including three quarters of the home straight, is where Stoner took back the lead and then some. In this final segment Stoner ran up a 3.364-second advantage over the first 22 laps until the final lap when Rossi threw in the towel." "In the first race under the new 800cc limit, Stoner never needed anyone’s draft to produce speeds lap after lap of 19- to-195 mph range while Rossi ran in the 185-to-188 mph range. The result was a very visible advantage that allowed Stoner to own the fifth and sixth gear sections of the track. This was no raceday anomaly. The Yamaha is just down on power compared to the Ducati and the Honda, and, if top speed is a true indicator, down also compared to the Suzuki and the Kawasaki." "Of the 18 tracks that compose the 2007 MotoGP schedule, nine of them allowed last year’s 990cc MotoGP machines to reach top speeds of over 310 km/h (192.6mph) or more, and that has got to be a worry for Yamaha after being smoked down the straights in Qatar." j'ai entendu entre les branches qu'ils vont mettre un slip-on akrapovic pis un ensemble de collant qui vient de e-bay.
ça devrait aller chercher une 10aine de rw-hp et lui permettre d'être on-par avec les ducattis pour le power c'est sérieusement alarmant par exemple que les R1 LE en SBK atteignent les mêmes top-speed que la nouvelle M1. |

on s'entend que avec un autre geerage la m1 aurais eu un top speed tres tres different.... rossi a du choisir ce setup en fonction des essaie qui étais beaucoup plus vite dans le secteur sinueux que la duc
pas mal certain que la m1 est capable de faire plus il a quand meme abaisser le temps de lans passé... ya quand meme fini 2e par dernier |

bah, peut-etre que c'est volontaire... ya mis un restrictor plate dans l'intake pcq sinon, il battait tout le monde beaucoup trop facilement.
