It’s an age-old question: which is faster, a car or a motorcycle?

Of course, it all depends on which car and which motorcycle. But what about a €130,000 Mercedes-Benz AMG E55, featuring a hand-built 5.4-litre supercharged V8 engine producing 469bhp against a stock Yamaha YZF-R6, 123bhp and yours for less than €11,500?

A tough ask for the bike you’d think, but that didn’t stop a group of Dutch journalists from throwing down the gauntlet. To do so, they enlisted the help of their country’s top motorcyclist, Belgarda Yamaha Team’s Jurgen van den Goorbergh, and Christijan Albers, the young Dutchman who caused a sensation by finishing second in the 2003 German DTM Touring Car championship.

Off they all went to Assen armed with the street versions of the machines they raced in 2003, Jurgen on the stock R6 and Albers driving the exclusive Mercedes.

It was a close run thing. The car may have almost four times the power and cost ten times as much as the R6, but in the end Jurgen upheld the honour of bikers everywhere, taking the laurels by around 10 seconds thanks to R6’s vastly superior power-to-weight ratio.

“I was always confident that the bike would be faster,” smiled Jurgen. “He didn’t have a chance!”

The result will no doubt have cheered Dutch motorcycle magazine Moto73, who arranged the shootout in conjunction with Formule 1 magazine and TV network SBS. Race fans in the Netherlands can find the full stories in these media this month.

I know that my ZX-12 is faster than a Ferrari, big time !!!! I did try one this summer. It was great !!!

Faut tenir compte si c est en courbe,en ligne droite,en acceleration,en top speed,tout sa font des difference......

Mais je peux confirmer qu un Dodge Viper stock fait 320 en top speed, c est plus que n importe que moto a part un Busa 99, 00 qui n était pas barré electroniquement

Mais là c'est sur le circuit, là ou sa compte vraiment, virage, freinage accélération.

Top speed c'est une question de gear, les japonais ont décidé que 300kmh c'est en masse et que plus sa serait stupide.

sur circuit jai vue le vidéo dune porche 911 c4 vs R1 pis ces la porche qui a fini premiere....

Ça dépends toujours du circuit. Un voiture est avantagée sur un circuit serré, mais sur un circuit de classe mondiale, avec des grands droits et de longues courbes, une moto est avantagée. Bien sûr, ça dépends aussi de la moto et de l'auto.

Ca se compare juste pas .... char de 3,000-4,000 lbs vs bicik de 300-400 lbs ... c'est clair que y'a rien de comparable .... un char t'as une quantité incroyable de pertes parasitiques, comparé au bike qui est faite pour donner des sensations

Sur un même circuit et dans leurs meilleurs temps, une formule1 est presque 30 secondes plus rapide qu'une moto GP.

Les formule1 sont capable de tirer plus de G dans les détours.
