Bonne chance! |

Laval IS a good choice; That's where I went and, the way I see it, one might be less prone to make mistakes one the "streets or suburbia" on a weekday than in downtown traffic!
Like they said: the instructions are given thru a "one-way radio" earpiece; it's usually two guys in a minivan following you, one drinving and the other one giving instructions and noting you. The guys are pretty cool and they don't especially try to make you fail, they usually give plenty of notice ahead, but what's kinda tricky is that they ask you to "exagerate" your movements so they can see you're looking over your shoulder to check blindspots for example. You might want to practice that (I nearly rear-ended a semi who salmmed his brakes twisting my head back like that Also, one thing that surprised me is that riding school (at least the one I went to) didn't say a word about 45 degree parking; and that's something they ask on the road test, check it out! "Break a leg"

Make sure you don't force anyone to break suddenly. (i.e. cut someone off) It's an automatic failure.
For the parking, my school never mentionned it either. When they asked me to stop and park, I stopped, got off the bike and pushed it back and parked... Apparently, this is not what they meant but I argued my way out of it by saying I'm too short and there's no way I can push the bike backward while sitting on it. They said OK. Hey, after all, I can't be discriminated because of my height |

The parking is a parallel parking (in our case it was mentionned during the theorical course, not during the practical one).
Basically, when doing a parallel parking on a bike, you back-up at 45°, on your bike. Don't forget to put your right blinker on when backing-up to park, and your left blinker on when you leave your parking spot. |
