Hey guys,
I just bought my first bike, a brand new 2004 Yamaha R6 0km on it. I have always ridden other bikes but never my own, i wanted to know if this was a good choice for a bike? I don't know much about mechanics and have read a bit here and there, you can say i don't have a deep knowledge yet. I always loved the look and it was my first choice on the list but every single person i see or meet has a gsx-r. What do you guys think? |

Most important factor is ... how YOU feel about it
The rest depends on your riding abilities, riding position, as well as the performance and looks of the bike. It's a pretty popular machine, and has rated among the best three or four 600cc bikes in many magazine reviews, I guess that says something about it Have fun ! |

GSX-R, R6, CBR RR, ZX6R... il all pretty much comes down to the same. Modern sportbikes are all reliable and well designed machines. It all comes down to which bike you find better looking and/or more comfortable to ride.
The only problem I see with the R6 is theft potential. Invest in a Cobra Link lock and attach the bike to a pole whenever possible, and do not leave it outside overnight, if possible. Enjoy the bike and have a good season! |

The R6 is a good bike, and respect the high RPM power output. The only thing you should imediatly do is buy and install a steering damper, it's a MUST have on a bike. My damper saved my ass a few time.

The R6 i bought already has a steering damper in it.
Like i said i really like the look and i guess thats what matters the most and it was very comfortable. I was just wondering performance wise etc THanks alot for your input guys and i will take your advise and invest in a lock so i can lock it when ever i go in to watch a movie or something |

Well, performance wise, it's easy to drive and is not suprising if you keep it under 10000rpm, over 10000 it's another story.

The R6 is a good choice, but not the only one. Basically, if you stay with the top 4 or 5 manufacturers, you can't really go wrong.
It all comes down to how the bike feels when you're on it, and how YOU like it and feel when riding it. What's right for someone else may not be right for you. Have fun and keep the shiney side up. Ride safe! |

Just like every one else says it's a good choice.
When you come down to the R6, the GSX R 600, the CBR 600 RR and the ZX-6R, the most important thing you have to base your choice on is the look. If the R6 is for you the nicest bike than you made the right choice. Do worry about it you will have a lot of fun. I just bought a 2005 GSX R 600 and my friend bought a 2005 R6, and let me tell you there is not much difference in performance between those two bikes. :o
