I need some advice

Hey all,

After a few track days this summer, the last one ending in a crash in which I broke a collarbone and damaged my 7R, I decided to rebuild the 7R only as a track bike. The damages are not so bad, front fairings and the left clipon.

So now I need a new road bike.

Since I now have a track bike, I was thinking about having a more "urban" bike, more confy but with a little punch to have fun, stable for our "downtown Bagdad" roads, something like a ZZR600, a Kat 750 or (and that would be my first choice but kind of expansive) a VFR.

I was hoping for the american model of the ZZR600, which is the same as the 2002 ZX-6R, but I guess it will not happen this year.

The new FZ (1 and 6) crossed my mind (ooops) well as the Z1000, but I like fully faired bikes... So here is what I came up with as a list of potential bikes, all classified as "standard" by my insurance company :

Honda VFR (probaly the best, but pricy)
Suzuki Katana 750
Kawasaki ZZR600

What do you think? Don't forget that I will have a track only bike to go and have the real fun...

You could add the SV1000 or 650 to that list, fun bikes to ride in town, with a bunch of torque in the mid-range, and half-fairings, yet classified as standard by most insurers.

J'ai déjà eu un SV650 2002... pas un fan des twin... il est certain qu'un 1000, ça doit être intéressant... j'ai fait un rapide essai d'un SV1000 à Tremblant il y a 2 ans lors de la course de Superbikes... j'ai pas été épaté... c'est pas smooth un twin...

Est-ce que tu penses l'acheter neuf ou usager ?

Parce que le classement par les assurances peut changer avec les années.
Mon YZF600 1996 est pas classé sport par mon assureur... donc ça laisse plus de choix.

Difficile à comparer tes trois machines:

Le VRF est clairement la meilleure machine, presque aussi sportive qu'une full-sport, mais super raffinée et confortable en plus.

Katana: un dinausore. Ça fonctionne encore, mais je ne la mentionnerais même pas dans la même phrase qu'un VRF.

ZX-6R: l'ancien modèle était réputé confortable et quand même bon en conduite portive. Pour le prix, si tu peux pas aller avec la VRF, c'est peut-être ton meilleur bet.

Mais je pense que la différence de prix avec le VRF ne serait pas de l'$ mal dépensé.

I tried a 2002 SV650 last weekend and Oh my god what a fun bike. I could tell all about its characteristics but one word sums it all... "fun"!!!
It is in my opinion one of the best commute bike and probably just as fun in the twisties although the suspension (front) is not adjustable. Maybe it is on the newer version.
It has my vote!

edit: je viens de lire que tu n'aimes pas les twins...

On the 2003+ (second generation), both front and rear suspentions are adjustable in preload only.

Si je me souviens bien, l'avant et l'arrière étaient ajustables en preload sur mon 2002 SV650S...
