Changing grips...

I was wondering if it was difficult to change the grips on my bike...they are a bit worn and i saw new ones for like 25 bucks...is it something i can do myself?

If you have a air compressor, just blow air between grip and handlebar and pull the grip out with your hand. If you don't, cut them.
Put a mild solution of soap and water in the new grips (even a shot of spray paint would do) and push them on. Let it dry for the night and that's it

If you use spray paint, cover the tank and fairings as a drop of paint could fall on them.
I prefer soap&water

Un petit truc:
Et ne pas oublier de posser du ruban en tissus à hockey du côté gauche du guidon, sinon l'élément va transférer sa chaleur au guidon au lieu de chauffer la "grip".

EN ce qui me concerne, j'utilise toujours, comme V-Force, la méthoce du compresseur à air. Cependant, j'ai toujours installé mes poignées "à sec", sans aucune colle ou lubrifiant et je n'ai jamais eu de problème, même sous la pluie.

Like the above poster said, use an air compressor to get them off, or cut them carefully with a razor (obviously try not to scratch your actual clip on.

Another way to put the new grips on is grip glue i.e. Renthal Grip Glue or use hairspray for a non-messy way to slide the grips on.

Pour les garder en place après l'installation, si elles sont très serrées (genre s'il y a des éléments chauffants de plus), ça tiens bien; moi j'ai mouillé l'intérieur de mes poignées avec un peu d'essence et maintenant s'est solide

sur mon CBR, les poignées en rubber sont trop lousses; j'ai acheté du "grip lock" mais je les ai pas encore collé. Sans ça, la poignée de gaz tourne autour du throttle et c'est plutot dérangeant

I just ripped off my old grips...they were the old foam grips, so I just cut them off. Just slide a knife down the middle and peel them off. You can destroy them (the old ones) as much as you want, since you're going to throw them out anyway! If theyre solid rubber, then just peel them off (like a condom

) and use WD-40 to help.

To install, just slip them on over the handlebar. I used rubbing alcohol as a lubricant, and it slid right on. Took maybe 15 minutes. Best $25 I ever spent!
