fuel pump relay
can anyone tell me what a fuel pump relay does
i know it has some thing to do with the elctrical part of the pump but how and y

Hi jason! Glad to hear it's the relay.....Cheaper than the pump...
 So here it is the fuel pump relay controls the start of your fuel pump when all the conditions are favorable for the start of your engine.....In other words your fuel pump shall not work if your not in neutral on some bike (recent), or when your kill switch is activated and/or if your ignition is not on....Hope i explain it right

JaysunOne, if you don't know what a fuel pump relay is, you really need help.
And even I may be able to help you. If possible,depending on accessibilty, I'll disconnect the smaller wire to it and jump 12 V from the battery there. If the pump whirls this would mean that the relay is good. If it does not, the relay or pump is bad. If it does, things get bad coz it's electrical problem. The smaller wire previously disconnected is the end part of a circuit consisting of (depending on bikes) a series of safeties like sidestand, neutral gear position, clutch and kill switches. ya looked at my wireing diagram for the bike and one wire goes to the tachometer and i havent had a tach since about the time this started and yes i did bypass the relay the pump works fine its something electrical most likely the missing tach
