Pensez-vous qu'il y a moyen de faire plus simple?
1995 CBR900RR Exhaust System Installation on 2002 Honda 919 “I am not liable for any harm that may become you or your bike from attempting this conversion. Do so at your own risk and judgment”. That is all of the small print – LMAO. You need to: Cut the existing bracket off of the header. Fabricate a mount for the muffler to the passenger foot peg. Everything goes pretty quickly. You need to remove the rear cowl, then the mufflers. Go ahead and put the rear cowl back on and take a break. Or, a good time to integrate your turn signals into your back brake . . . Anyway . . . Next loosen the "Y" pipe. Do not remove it yet; it is not possible very easily. Go ahead and wrap the “Y” pipe in socks or towels to prevent it from scratching the swing-arm or anything else. Loosen the two radiator bolts - One on the right, one on the bottom. Remove them and support the radiator - it does not need much. When you remove the two bolts, slide the radiator slightly to the right. This will free it - note how it slides in on the left side. Remove the header bolts. Half of mine came our with the studs. Remove the header - leaving the "Y" pipe dangling (but wrapped so it does not hurt anything). Take a break. Loosen the lower shock bolt Use a hydraulic jack to lift the bike - under the motor and I used a wood block to protect the motor. Remove lower bolt from shock (comes out the right side) and jack up bike until able to remove the "Y" pipe safely from the top. I had to jack it up quite a ways - keep an eye on your brake line. Once the "Y" pipe is removed, lower bike enough to fit lower shock bolt. Once fitted, lower bike completely and torque lower shock bolt. Install the new header, torque nuts. Install the radiator. Prepare to install muffler. Important! The muffler will hit the passenger foot peg, but the pipe will flex enough for it to clear. Carefully slide muffler in place. It will go - but we do not want it riding against the peg - too much vibration. Take a break. You need to fabricate a bracket. It should also utilize a vibration resistant mount, or your foot will buzz itself to sleep. The bracket goes from the upper passenger foot peg bolt to the muffler. You need to remove one of these and bought another one that is longer - I think 35mm but I am not sure. Hardware stores have them, allen head, and I replaced both to assure they matched in appearance. One long, one stock length. Guy a couple new self-locking nuts and washers while you are there. Also, pick up a gate hinge - It will cut down very nicely for a bracket. They are only about $4.00 and you can make 2 brackets, handy if you mess the first one up. I also bought some faucet washers, assorted. Like $3.00 for a box of them. I used them to make the isolation mount. You will also need a bolt for the muffler to the bracket. The isolation side of the bracket is on the foot peg. One reason, it is cooler and the isolation mount should last longer. The bracket must be longer to put pressure on the muffler, moving it away from the "frame". This is not difficult. I think that covers it - I will try and post some photos. I suggest having the pipe refinished if it needs it. I like the flat black look for now, and the hi-temp header spray paint has worked out very well. I am very interested in how your project goes, Steve |
