Par défaut Which bike to use for road test???

Hi Guys,

I'll be doing my road test hopefully in April, if all goes well, and I was debating whether I should use my bike or a rental.

The problem is, I'll be going there with a 2004 Orange ZX6R....a sport bike that's flashy....I have a nasty feeling that I'm looking for trouble showing up with a bike like that?

What do you guys think? i drove all last summer with my bike, and I tried different bikes, and I feel very comfortable with almost any bike. So I'm not worried about the feeling of the bike, and I'm not worried about paying $$$ for a rental.

I'm just worried that I get a prick who doesn't like or has a grudge against sport bikes.

Ray,

They could care less what you drive. As long as your bike meets the SAAQ requirements to be on the road legally & legitimately. i.e. Tires that are worn out is a no-no!

If I may, some friendly advice: Keep your speed as indicated, watch out for the school zone speed limit (30 kmph) and when you accelerate/merge on to the highway be at 100 Kmph!

Good Luck & stay cool,

JM

Good advice JM. I am most certainly not an expert on this stuff (yet! .. lol) .. but there is just one teenie weenie correction - seeing as it is still fresh in my mind from having just completed my theory classes at Tecnic:

A school zone is essentially a 50 km/h zone .. UNLESS .. there is a white sign under the 50 km/h school sign indicating it's a 30 km/h zone.

Ray, don't want you to go too slow .. .. unless u have to !!

Good luck !!

cool, thanks guys for the tips, i really appreciate it.....

just one thing about the comment Siffleu made...

when they asked you to accelerate, you actually did it? or did you ignore them? Because if it's a 50 zone and your going 50, sometimes they test you to see if you obey the rules?

I've heard so many stories...I think it really all depends on who you get.

They will ask you to go faster if you are bellow the speed limit only. I do not know in which SAAQ you will go for your test, but if you go on Henri Bourassa, don't forget to go in this area to practice... You will locate the school, the special tricks and holes to avoid, etc... If you go in another SAAQ then go in this area. I think it is one good plan. Also concerning your bike, if you have a lot of experience driving it, go with it. I had a ZX6R 1998 for the past 2 years when I showed up for the test in 2000, and I succeed easily. I think that it is also a matter of attitude... Be confident but not arrogant...

exam done in longueuil...

was riding at 50 and I've come to 65 and it's was ok..

running 50 kmh is really slow on big street in middle of no-where

just relax, and drive, he will tell you what he wants, you follow his direction and you show him you have understand . As he tell me, you are just there to show him you feel good about riding a bike...

I agree but if memory serves me correct, at Henri Bourassa SAAQ, the nearby school zone is at 30 kmph.

Otherwise all the info. written here has been great!

I think you should go with your own bike. Last year I did my test with my HAIRY CBR and the guy even tought it was cool. Just make sure you have your OEM flashers and reflectors. And make sure the bike is in good condition, but I wouldn't care about that since it's a 2004.
