When you take your closed circuit test, are you allowed to practice with the bike for a few minutes before taking the test (just to get a feel for the clutch throttle and brakes)?
And if you fail...how long do you have to wait before taking the test again? was it 56 days or something? |

No you cannot practice before the exam, but you do get about 50 ft or so to get a feel for the clutch and brakes as you drive the bike to the circuit. So take advantage of that little stretch.
As for the delay after you fail, I don't know. Just don't fail Don't worry, it's more nerves then anything else. Just keep it cool and you'll do just fine. Good luck |

It depends though...I remember when I did my exam the guy with Tecnic let me ride around the parking lot for a few minutes to let me get a feel for the bike. It is worth asking.

oh it is only 14 days? OK! good!
Yeah....I did the exam 3 years ago. It was the last exam of the year, in October. It was raining and cold, and I was the first one on the bike. I did everything good, but in the emergency braking while turning, I did not go fast enough, so I had to do it again. I went too fast, braked hard, slid the rear tire and dropped the bike...so automatic fail I didnt have much time the last 3 years to re-do the test...so now I have to to the WHOLE thing again (6R test, courses, closed circuit etc...).

When you hop on the bike, you are asked to go 3/4 of the way around the track to the 'start' position. During that 50-60 ft, you can practice a bit and get a feel for the bike.
One thing i strongly recommand, try an emergency braking during that time and get a feel for the brakes. I did 3 and I think it really helped when the time came to do the real ones because I knew how the breaks would react. As for the clutch, you don't lose points if you stall so it's not too bad if you can't get it quite right but if you do 2-3 hard braking, you'll also do 4-5 accelerations before you start the exam and you should be ok

I did my exam with my own bike. It was hard to control that beast: 25km/h its like between 1500 and 2000 rpms!! a millimeter of throtle turn!! If I had failed, I would have use the technic bike: The Buell Blast. This bike was made for the closed circuit: easy to turn, good brakes and the handling.. Its just easy..
If you rent one, this is the bike to go. |

Really? The Buell Blast? I'm with Mortys school, and they have a Buell blast to learn on...but I dont know if they will use it for the test. The buell is nice, but it needs a LOT of throttle and it has a very sensitive clutch.
Heres a new question: If I do my closed circuit test on a 400cc (or less), does that mean I will have to re-do it all for 401+cc? I heard on the closed circuit test it does not matter....but for the road test, it matters. Is this true? Because I plan to buy a Bandit 400...and I can use it on ther closed circuit test! |
